about

LP020: Jake Acosta 'Retrospector' DIGI // PDF

'Time is a medical condition'

Back then, a window addiction, turned hours into days and nights, alone through the panes, registering the human conditional tense, compulsively compiling the past into true and untrue realities and timelines, romanticizing what was, was not, and what could have been, discerning realms. Time has slowly poisoned me with its unlimited provisionals, its coerced me into its multiverse of contingencies.

I became obessed with what would or could be true, and then false. A growing conviction for what is wrong became tantamount to what is right. And what is right these days, anyway? A correct stance felt poseur. There's nothing older and more played out than the truth. Humans have been getting it right since the beginning, and it couldnt be getting any less exciting. But what is wrong? Its fun, its revealing, its empowering. It can be conditional, alternative, infinite, singular.

...and all of the sudden,164 Bandcamp Friday's into the future, I'm nostalgic for the mistakes that got me here. So, here! Two tracks I produced this year that really try to give recognition to the condition I'm now referring to as 'psilopsychosomatic'.

ONE MORE THING, there is a free download of the Retrospector 2023 Vision Board .pdf that will take you even further out there, in the wrong direction, at the worst time, with no path, no light, or sound, no one around, and when it seems like you're too far out, too far gone, and every thought goes too long, it ends in a sound that sounds really wrong, well thats my song.
